Rank Math SEO – Phill’s Review

These past few weeks since I started this Blog, three words have constantly popped up. Rank Math SEO. This plugin is far, FAR superior than Yoast and All in one SEO plugins.

Rank Math describes itself as The Swiss Army Knife of WordPress SEO, and I can tell you I highly agree with the fact. Before I ramble on about this awesome plugin and what it can do lets check out their video…

FAST SEO by Rank Math

Looks impressive right? You would also be forgiven for thinking that this is a premium plugin of superior quality and it’s going to be pricey, right? Well, it costs Zip, Nada, Nothing. this is FREE to Download. I am also reliably informed that this version will always remain free.

What does Rank Math SEO have to Offer and why is it better than Yoast SEO or All in one SEO?

That’s a really good question, dear pilgrim. Well, I am officially in love with this plugin. Not only because it’s free to download and use but it has a load more features than the now dated-looking Yoast SEO.

Here are 14 reasons why I think you should upload this and replace your current SEO plugin. Enjoy…!

1. The Data Import Feature

The Rank Math Import Feature
The Rank Math Import Feature

But I use Yoast SEO and Love it!! Really? Well, dear pilgrim, I can tell you that once you install this you will never go back to Yoast or All in one. You would be forgiven for thinking that changing your WordPress SEO plugin to Rank Math SEO will somehow deteriorate your SEO efforts.

Far from it. One of the awesome new features, when you install this plugin, is the Data Import Feature that brings in all of the Settings, Meta Information, Plugin Data and all of your Focus Keywords from either Yoast or All in one SEO.

This feature works perfectly and it will have ZERO detrimental effects, in fact it will surely boost your websites/blogs SEO efforts.

2. The Four oh Four monitor and Redirection Tools

The Rank Math 404 Monitor

This Awesome feature monitors your entire sites links, pages, posts and files for 404 not found error pages and lets you redirect them to a relevant page, post, link or asset.

This can only further improve your WordPress SEO efforts by stopping visitors hitting the 404 pages and keeping them on your site. This feature is not available in Yoast SEO and users previously had to rely on the Google Search Console for help with finding these errors.

3. Rich Snippets

Rich Snippets

I think that most of us know what a Rich Snippet is but essentially it helps the search engines understand your content better. Rank Math has fourteen different types of rich snippets currently and I assume more will be added over time.

4. Social and Open Graph

Open Graph, on the other hand, is like Rich Snippets but it controls what a blog post will look like On Social Media. As you can see from the animated gif above this feature under the Social Tab is a Killer feature as it previews what your posts link will look like on Facebook and Twitter.

5. Fast Site SEO Audit

Can Yoast SEO do this? I think not. This hands down has goto be one of this plugins best features. It scans the entire website inside and out and gives you a fully comprehensive report with tips on How To Fix.

I have been using this feature quite heavily as I build up this blog with content. I found it really useful finding broken 404 links as well as helping me SEO My Client Reviews page.

6. User Interface

As a web developer, I think I create websites with an easy to understand and intuitive User Interface for my clients. This UI by rank math makes everything so easy to follow and understand that a complete newbie could follow and understand it without much effort.

7. Role Manager UI

I am not actually using this feature as yet. Mainly because I am not taking on contributors but this may change over time.

Having this Role Manager UI in place as an added extra makes the life of an administrator running a multi author blog that so much easier. As you can see it lets you control the features for each user account.

8. Built In Search Console

The new Google Search Console (formerly Google Webmaster Tools) is a brilliant service. Again it’s made to look more user-friendly. However, Rank Math SEO not only connects to your Google Search Console (GSC) but it also pulls in its data and visualises it within its app itself.

Visual Data from Built in Search Consol

As you can see from this blogs data I have had 3 clicks in a little over three weeks when I added this blog to GSC. Yep, my Click through rate is low and needs improving but in my defence, this blog is fairly new and is slowly building up.

Not only does it have a general overview of how well the blog is performing in search. But you also get search analytics, sitemaps submitted and a Keyword Tracker.

Yet another feature awesome feature not available on Yoast or All in one SEO.

9. Show off your SEO Score

Show Off your SEO Score

I actually just stumbled across this a few moments ago as I was preparing and writing this post. how cool is that. I can show off my SEO Score for this post.

Kudos to Rank Math SEO for making this awesome new feature available. This is something that plays to my vanity and probably yours as well. Yet another feature not available on Yoast or All in One SEO plugins.

Thanks Phillip for this review of the Rank Math plugin. But since this is a massive plugin with a bucket load of features, what will be its impact on site loading times if I decide to install it?

      Hello Trishan,

thank you for your comment. yes this plugin is bigger in filesize than yoast but the impact on your sitespeed is negligable and the benefits it brings to your site far outweigh the disadvantages a small increate in filesize.

Check out my posts on Superfast WordPress websites about using WEBP and Stackpath. As you can see on my latest GTMetrix report this site is loading in under 2 seconds: https://gtmetrix.com/reports/phill.blog/RLzQgmZO

My advice would be to make a backup of your site first, install this plugin and test it for a while, if after you dont like it you can always put Yoast back but I think you will want ot keep it going as I do.

Many thanks for your comment Trishan.

I love it, Im an ex yoast customer with a current premium account still active and woocommerce extension. At, some point I can see it going paid but think it will still be cheaper. Keyword tracking in the pipeline too.

Regarding speed I notice no speed impact, yoast was already pretty big with lots of code in the head section. As I said my site is an ecommerce site so lots of files yet sub 2 sec loading

      Hey John,

Thank you for taking the time to comment on here, really appreciated. I have actually been reliably informed that this version of the plugin will always remain free and yes they are developing a premium one with even more features. Same here no speed impact, or if there is it’s negligable.

Have you seen my posts on Superfast site speed yet at all? StackPath is awesome.
Thank you John for visiting. it’s appreciated.
